Darurat? Don't panic!

At 11 a.m. 12 January 2021 (Tuesday), Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had announced that Yang di-Pertuan Agong had declared States of Emergency (Darurat) as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19 as well as worsening flood situation affecting states.

- The emergency (darurat) will last until 1 August or may end earlier depending on COVID-19 situation

- This is NOT A MILITARY COUP and no curfews will be enforced

- The MCO, CMCO and RMCO will go on as usual

- There will be no parliamentary sitting or elections of any sort (including State Elections and By-Elections) during this period. The administrative machinery of the federal and state government will not be affected

- Economic sectors are still allowed to operate with MCO, CMCO or RMCO SOP and other rules and regulations set by federal or state government

- International entry-exit activities are under the control of government announcement

In summary, the declare of "darurat" would not affect any daily activities of people. All the SOP and rules and regulations of MCO, CMCO and RMCO are under the control of the federal government and the state governments. The only effect is that there will be no any parliamentary sitting or elections of any sort.
